Should You Clean the Windows Before Selling Your House?

Yes - clean windows are one of the cheapest things you can do before listing. They make rooms photograph brighter, make the view read as part of the property, and remove a detail buyers notice at showings. Schedule the cleaning a few days before photography, not weeks.
What it changes in the photographs
Real estate photography relies on natural light. A film on the glass scatters that light, and interiors come out flatter and greyer than the room actually is.
In South Florida the view is often part of what is being sold. A hazy pane between the camera and the water undersells the whole property.
The order that works
- Book the cleaning three to five days before photography
- Include screens - a dirty screen shows in every wide shot
- Include tracks if any slider will be opened during showings
- Deal with hard water staining first if there is any; it takes longer than a normal clean
What buyers actually notice
Not the clean glass. They notice the dirty glass. Spotting, streaks and grimy tracks read as deferred maintenance, and buyers extrapolate from small things to big ones.
A slider that sticks at a showing is a worse impression than most sellers realise.
