What to Expect From a Window Cleaning Visit, and How to Get Ready
By Solpath Window Detailing · Published · Updated
Before a window cleaning, unlock side gates, secure pets, clear ornaments off the inside sills and tell us about tinted film, stuck windows or delicate plants. Exterior-only visits can happen while you are out. If the inside is included, someone over 18 needs to be home. Most homes take one to three hours, and the glass is checked in daylight before we leave.

Before the day
- Unlock side gates, or tell us how to get into the back yard
- Keep dogs and cats inside or away from the work area
- Clear ornaments, photos and plants off the inside sills
- Tell us which windows have tint or film on them
- Mention any window that sticks, is cracked or has a broken lock
- Point out delicate plants under windows that need extra care
On the day
- Screens come out and are marked so each goes back in its own opening
- Tracks are vacuumed dry before they are washed
- Each pane is washed, squeegeed and detailed at the edges by hand
- Inside, drop cloths go down first and furniture is moved and put back
- Frames and sills are wiped, and screens are washed and refitted
- The glass is checked in daylight before we leave
Do you need to be home?
Not for exterior-only work, as long as we can reach the windows. If interior windows are included, someone over 18 needs to be there to let us in.
If it rains
Light rain after a proper clean usually dries without much trace, because clean glass sheds water better. If the weather makes the work unsafe or pointless, the visit is moved, and you can move it yourself by calling or texting.
