How Often Should Storefront Windows Be Cleaned?
By Solpath Window Detailing · Published · Updated
Busy storefronts, restaurants and retail entrances usually need the front glass cleaned weekly, because handprints and road film show quickly at eye level. Offices and quieter storefronts usually do well every two to four weeks, with upper and side glass cleaned less often. On a busy road or near the beach, lean toward the more frequent end.

A schedule by type of business
| Business | Front glass | Everything else |
|---|---|---|
| Restaurants and cafes | Weekly | Monthly |
| Busy retail | Weekly | Monthly |
| Showrooms | Weekly | Monthly |
| Salons, clinics and offices with walk-in customers | Every two weeks | Monthly to quarterly |
| Offices without walk-in traffic | Monthly | Quarterly |
What moves the schedule
- Foot traffic through the door, which is where handprints land
- A busy road outside, which leaves a gray film
- Salt air near the beach or the Intracoastal
- Construction nearby
- Sprinklers or irrigation reaching the glass
Working around your hours
Storefront glass is cleaned before opening or after close wherever possible, so there is no ladder across the entrance and no wet floor at the door. Where it has to happen during business hours, the entrance is kept clear.
Entries and walkways
The walkway in front of the door picks up gum, spills and tire marks. Pressure washing it on the same visit as the glass keeps the approach looking as looked-after as the window.
How it is priced
Commercial work is quoted per property and per visit, not per pane. A recurring schedule also means each visit deals with a few weeks of buildup rather than a few months of it.
